Can you tell us something about studying medicine in Serbia?

Well, they focus a lot on practical work. So, we go a lot to hospitals and the emergency centre. We do a lot of work with doctors and interact with patients frequently. I really like that we can start doing the practical part of medical studies very early on, from the first year, and continue all the way to the sixth year, where we can even observe operations, surgeries, and so on.

What is it like living in Serbia?

Well, it’s very cheap compared to the West. It’s quite affordable for someone coming from the West. You can comfortably live in the [city] centre, and you can even afford to go out to coffee shops and restaurants without spending a huge amount of money.

Do Serbian people speak English?

Serbian people speak English very well compared to other countries I’ve been to. They have a good accent as well, which, in other countries, can sometimes make it difficult to understand. Generally, I’ve never had any problems getting around or asking people questions or for directions. Most people will answer in English.

What’s your favourite tourist destination in Serbia?

I really like going to the south of Serbia. It’s not a popular place with tourists which I think makes it even better. You get great food, good culture, very nice nature and all that stuff. So, the south of Serbia, specifically Leskovac.
