The Government of Serbia offers a scholarship programme designed for students of Serbian nationality living in the Western Balkan region. This initiative supports young individuals from Serbian national minorities in pursuing higher education at state universities in Serbia, contributing to the educational and professional needs of Serbian communities across the region.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for this scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality and Age: Applicants must belong to the Serbian national minority and hold citizenship in one of the countries within the Western Balkan region. The age limits are as follows:
    • Under 21 years for bachelor’s degree studies
    • Under 25 years for master’s degree studies
    • Under 35 years for doctoral degree studies
  • Academic Performance:
    • For bachelor’s studies, candidates must demonstrate excellent academic results in secondary school.
    • For master’s studies, a grade point average above 8.50 (on a 10-point scale) is required.
    • For doctoral studies, candidates must have completed a master’s degree equivalent to 300 ECTS credits.
  • Language Proficiency: Applicants must have a functional level of English or Serbian to successfully participate in their chosen programme.
  • Commitment to Return: Scholarship recipients are expected to return to their home country upon completing their studies.
