Work while studying

Many foreign students who choose to study in Serbia may also want to work part-time to support themselves or gain professional experience. Foreign citizens are permitted to work in Serbia, but there are specific requirements and procedures that need to be followed to ensure legal employment.

To work in Serbia, foreign citizens need to meet certain requirements and obtain the following documents:

  • Residence permit – permanent residence permit or permission for temporary residence in the Republic of Serbia;
  • Work permit – which is issued by the National Employment Service.

Work permits are granted for periods between 3 and 12 months, with an average processing time of only two days. Once the initial permit is granted, it can be easily renewed, and the renewal process is identical to the original application.
