Academic calendar

The academic year usually starts in September or October and ends in June. It’s divided into two semesters:

  • Winter Semester: Begins in autumn and runs until January or February
  • Summer Semester: Starts after the winter break and ends in June

Examination Periods

Throughout the academic year, institutions usually offer six examination periods to accommodate students’ assessment needs. The first two examination periods occur in January and February, the next two in June and early July, and the final two at the end of July and August.

Summer Break

Summer holidays in Serbia usually last for two to three months, providing students with a period to relax and recharge. However, this extended break is only available to students who successfully complete all their exams by the fourth examination period in early July.

While the general structure of the academic calendar is consistent across Serbian higher education institutions, specific dates may vary. Institutions may adjust their schedules to accommodate specific programme requirements, public holidays, or other academic considerations, so students are encouraged to check the academic calendar of their chosen institution.
