Study in Serbia at APAIE 2026: Strengthening International Academic Partnerships in Hong Kong

We are happy to share that the Study in Serbia initiative was part of the annual conference organised by the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education – an important event dedicated to international higher education collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) is one of the most influential organisations dedicated to advancing international education cooperation. Its mission is to support collaboration among higher education institutions, encourage academic exchange, and promote the value of international education throughout the Asia-Pacific region. By bringing together universities, education agencies, and policy leaders, APAIE helps create networks that support student mobility, joint research initiatives, and cross-border academic partnerships.

The 2026 APAIE Conference in Hong Kong represented one of the largest gatherings of international education professionals in the region. Held from 23 to 27 February 2026, the event brought together 3,592 participants from 72 regions, representing more than 600 organisations from across the world. The programme included over 120 presentations, panels, and discussions addressing current topics in international higher education, including global student mobility, digital learning, institutional partnerships, and the future of internationalisation.

The conference attracted university leaders, policymakers, researchers, and professionals working in international student recruitment and academic cooperation.

Study in Serbia Initiative at APAIE 2026

During the conference, representatives of the Study in Serbia initiative actively engaged with participants from universities and organisations across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. We successfully presented Serbia’s higher education system, introducing study opportunities for international students, and discussing potential areas for academic cooperation.

One of the main goals of the initiative’s presence at APAIE was to increase awareness of Serbia as a study destination. Representatives shared information about study programmes offered by Serbian higher education institutions, including undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programmes available to international students. We also provided insights into the Serbian academic environment, highlighting factors such as diverse academic fields, international collaboration opportunities, and the country’s growing commitment to internationalisation.

The Study in Serbia Presentation

In addition to meetings and networking activities, representatives of the Study in Serbia initiative also held a presentation at the Study in Europe booth, where we introduced the initiative to conference participants and shared key information about higher education opportunities in Serbia. The presentation provided an overview of study opportunities available at Serbian higher education institutions, including programmes offered to international students at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Attendees also learned about student life in Serbia, including insights into the experiences of international students who have already chosen Serbia as their study destination.

Particular attention was given to introducing some of the largest and most prominent universities in the country, such as the University of Belgrade, University of Novi Sad, University of Kragujevac and the University of Niš, highlighting the diversity of academic programmes and research opportunities they offer. The session also covered practical information about admission procedures, available study fields, and the advantages of studying in Serbia, helping international partners and education professionals gain a clearer understanding of the country’s higher education landscape.
