Welcome to Serbia

Moving to a new country can be a complex process, but Serbia has made it easier than ever for foreigners to access the information and services they need. The Portal for Foreign Citizens – Welcome to Serbia, serves as a single access point for all essential information and electronic services required by foreign nationals who wish to live, work, study, or invest in Serbia.

Developed by the Office for IT and eGovernment, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, and the National Employment Agency, this innovative portal simplifies the entire process of residence and employment for foreigners in Serbia. Since its launch, the procedure for submitting requests for temporary residence and work permits has become significantly faster and more efficient. The platform is designed to streamline immigration procedures and enable users to submit applications electronically for a visa and a temporary residence in Serbia.

Thanks to recent amendments to the Law on Foreigners, Serbia introduced a unified residence and work permit, making it easier for foreigners to live and work legally in the country. The same law also established the Portal for Foreign Citizens as an official digital platform through which all electronic applications can be submitted. Foreign nationals and their employers no longer need to visit consulates or local offices in person. Instead, the entire process (from identity verification and form submission to fee payment and document delivery) can be completed online. Applicants are also notified electronically about the status of their request, and if additional documentation is required, they can update their application quickly and efficiently.

The Welcome to Serbia portal is designed with user experience in mind. Visitors do not need prior knowledge of Serbian immigration rules. A simple interactive guide leads each user through a concise set of questions and directs them to relevant procedures and requirements based on their personal situation.

In addition to visa and residence services, the Welcome to Serbia portal offers valuable information about daily life and business opportunities in the country. Whether you plan to work, study, invest, or start a business in Serbia, you will find detailed guidance on these topics.
