CERN: Serbia becomes the 7th country in Europe and the 10th in the world where the data of the largest global scientific experiment is stored

Serbia is joining international computing group for Large Hadron Collider, the largest scientific experiment in the realm of physics, carried out by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). 

After years of successful collaboration between Serbia and CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research), this month Serbia has solidified the collaboration by signing the Memorandum of Understanding at the State Data Centre in Kragujevac, marking Serbia's entry into the Worldwide LHC Computing Group (WLCG). 

This agreement signifies Serbia’s new status as a Tier 1 member of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG), representing the highest level of participation in the network.   

The partnership underscores Serbia's commitment to advancing science, innovation, and technology, setting an exemplary standard for other nations. With membership in CERN, Serbian physicists gain access to experiments of the highest global significance, offering scientists, engineers, and students unprecedented opportunities for knowledge, courses, internships, and practical work. 

Scientists and researchers from higher education institutions in Serbia will have the opportunity to acquire new knowledge that they can apply in various areas of their work and have the chance to work on significant projects related to processing large volumes of data generated by complex computer systems. 

As Serbia embraces this new chapter in scientific cooperation, it sets the stage for a future in which the frontiers of scientific exploration are consistently expanded.
